Normally, censorship in this country goes overboard. All kinds of people are always telling all kinds of other people what they can and can't watch, look at, listen to, say, use in advertising, etc. The Supreme Court steps in and declares what is lawful and what isn't because some people (a minority?) are offended by some things, instead of allowing those people to govern themselves and abstain from viewing, listening to, or participating in those things that offend them.
And then comes this. A block on censorship. Those people have found a way to enjoy mainstream entertainment without the violence, sex and profanity that some consider - and often times they're right - gratuitous. Companies like CleanFilms and Family Flix clean up mainstream movies, removing the violence, sex and profanity so families who object to those things can enjoy them.
It's getting ridiculous. First you can censor everything. Then you can censor nothing. People need to make up their minds.
Let us be responsible for ourselves or call it a dictatorship and take all our rights away. But don't give us this middle ground that feels like quicksand. I can't keep my footing here, and I don't know which way to turn to get back to safety.
