So Friday, as I'm sure you're all aware, was St. Patrick's Day. Apparently there was this little provision for Catholics that they could eat meat because it was an Irish holiday, and who doesn't like a little Corned Beef and Cabbage? And there was a little show at The Canyon Club.
Of course it was a Big Bad Voodoo Daddy show. Who else do I drive all over the southland - nay, all over the state! - for?
The cool thing about The Canyon Club is that they serve dinner. Stephanie made reservations months ago, knowing that St. Patty's Day would be packed, and she, Frankie & I settled down to enjoy an evening of relatively good food, people watching, and awesome music.
As we were enjoying our meal, Alex (the trombone player mentioned in a previous post) came out and we flagged him down. He thanked Frankie and me for the goodie bags (all hail Silly String and pop rocks!) and chatted for a few minutes.
I dropped into the converstation that I happened to have a money picture of us from the show in Cabazon. He assured me that he had a moment to spare, so I pulled out my trusty new digital camera and called up the picture of me and Alex looking all hottie after the show. He did a double take and then stunned the three of us with
"When's the wedding?" and a wink.
Ever on my toes, I quickly responded with
"Where's the ring?" and a coquettish smile.
Before leaving us to prepare for the show, he made sure I knew how to get in touch with him. I've decided on date in November. Now we just have to let the families, and the band, know. And don't worry, you're all invited.
So, with the hearty approval of my betrothed, the photo that made him fall in love with me. And offer such a hasty proposal. Wink wink.
